World's Largest Neighborhood of 3D-Printed Homes, United States

Austin, Texas is ready to break the ground for bringing up the world's largest 3D-printed home neighborhood in 2022. The project is a collaboration between Lennar ( Homebuilding company), ICON (Construction technologies company), and Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) to build the largest community of 3D-printed homes to date.

The community will be made of 100 numbers of 3D home, which combines ICON's innovative robotics, software, and advanced materials with BIG's designs.

Features of Austin Largest 3D-Printed Home Community

Almost 5.5 million shortages of single family homes are faced by American families due to labor and material shortages. This has made home ownership out of reach for many families in America. The project merged as a result of this shortage in labor and materials.

The 3D-Printed home planned in Austin provides the following construction features:

  1. The 3D-Printed homes are constructed using ICON's 3D printing technology that built more efficient and durable homes faster than conventional building methods.
  2. The technology used produces less waste.
  3. ICON's Vulcan construction is used to design and engineer modules from the ground. This technique will deliver homes and structures up to 3,000 square feet. 
  4. These technology produces wall systems and advanced materials that are stronger and durable to weather conditions, compared to traditional materials.
  5. The homes are designed by BIG. It will have contemporary living spaces, modernizing traditional suburban homes with various spatial concepts. 
ICON is a response to the global housing crisis. Considering the deficiency of homes the United States faces, the project is going to be game changer and all time solution throughout the world.
