Toilets comes in various styles based on the number of pieces out of which it is made and how it is mounted on the floor or wall. Based on these characteristics, toilets can be classified into:

1. One-Piece Toilet

One-piece toilet is made from a single piece of material mostly out of ceramic. The whole unit includes an integrated bowl, tank and a trapway. Most of the designs come with a toilet seat.



The features are:
  • Easy installation & maintenance
  • Provide seamless fit 
  • Cleaning is easy
  • Costly compared to two-piece toilet
  • More durability
  • Consume less space and sits closer to ground
  • Best for small toilets

2. Two-Piece Toilet



A two-piece toilet comes in two pieces for assembly. The two pieces are the toilet tank and the toilet bowl. If necessary, these units can be bought separately and mix and matched. In most cases, toilet seat is bought separately.
The features are:
  • Efficient
  • Long lasting
  • Individual damaged piece is replaced unlike one-piece toilet
  • Simple design
It is a common type used in the United States of America.


3. Wall-Hung Toilet



Wall-Hung or wall-mounted toilet gives a compact and modern look to the bathroom. This toilet unit is mounted on the wall and the flush tank is hidden within the wall ( tank is not visible). A bowl and flush plate is only visible to us.

  • Can be placed anywhere near the water source

  • Costly due to its modern look
  • Demands more repair
  • Require professional plumbers to fix toilet as flush tank is within the wall
